The place I think had wood floors and rows of pots, pans, and all manner of gadgets and forms for French cooking. I still have my French sauce pan hanging in my kitchen window. I remember I felt a bit guilty when my boss asked why I had taken so much time and I answered an excuse nothing to do with having been at Bazar Francais. I was beginning to learn about French cooking and felt compelled to follow the advice in a French cookbook which listed the Bazar Francais store in the back pages as being a good place fro copper pots.Queitsch Hofhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17072027532920541123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21554899.post-77452163371933040272015-07-22T15:29:26.352-07:002015-07-22T15:29:26.352-07:00I have a Bazar francais catalogue from 1957. The book dates to about the same time the structure was opened.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11024979195340885193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21554899.post-23519518644836763472011-04-08T05:57:35.359-07:002011-04-08T05:57:35.359-07:00Yes, I have been to Bazar Francais. My mother, a superb cook who died in 1972, used to buy equipment there. This was in the days before Dean & Deluca and Williams-Sonoma and other kitchen equipment companies. I think BF and Bridge Company on the East Side had the market pretty much to themselves. We also bought pots at a restaurant supply company (Friedman & Sons?) roughly where Atlantic Yards is.Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12267047124685431279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21554899.post-55695170569130467292011-04-06T20:41:23.027-07:002011-04-06T20:41:23.027-07:00It looks as if the business didn't quite last ...It looks as if the business didn't quite last until its 100th anniversary.
