The new awnings at the 51-year-old Arturo's pizzeria look pretty sharp. But there's something to be said for the character of the older specimens (below). At least they kept true to the color scheme. And they didn't touch the hand-painted lettering in the windows.
I'm glad they kept the color scheme as it was, and didn't touch the hand lettering on the windows. But any idea why they replaced it? The old one was so charming and from the photo doesn't appear to be in bad shape.
ReplyDeleteI think all old places in NYC are feeling nervous these days. They know they're not appreciated as they should be and are anxious to keep up with the new joints and look as young and fresh as possible. It's a shame.
