All About Cary Court
What do you need to know about Cary Court, a little blip of a street off Coney Island Avenue in Midwood, Brooklyn? Well, this:
"Cary Court is a Private Street, not a Public Street. Trespassing is at Your Own Risk."
Well, I trespassed all over that road! All the way from Coney Island Avenue to E. 12th Street and back again. Took one minute. Weird little alley. Don't know who owns it. As far as I can tell, only one house can claim Cary Court as its address. But they're keen on giving people the 411 on the street. There are two big signs proclaiming Cary's private status, and the fact that the City has no claim on it acreage. Judging from the cracked pavement and potholes, that the City does not maintain it is clear as well-water.
It does have a lamppost, though. Is that private, too?
