Remember the long public fight over the fate of 231 Duffield Street, thought by many to be connected to the history of the Underground Railroad movement? How people fought and protested, and the debate dragged on and on? Well, it's
over. Over because the building is gone, torn down in one short weekend.
The good news is there is still hope for the neighboring 227 Duffield Street, which "may stave off the wrecking ball and undergo conversion to an abolitionist museum," according to
Curbed.
And that's what amounts to good news in this day and age.
