As of yesterday, men were hard at work repairing a piddling little section of the crumbling Coney Island boardwalk. I've read the City coughed up enough money to rehab 15 blocks of the 42-block stretch. From the looks of the fenced-in area, however, it seems like far less. But, hey, I'm grateful for what we can get.
The new brown would is going to look curious next to the stretches of old, decaying grey wood, which creaks and groans as you walk over it. (I swore it was going to collapse at a few points. That boardwalk is old.) At the pace they're going, I'm guessing they'll be done with the work by early June.
