In spring 2008, a greedy Cobble Hill landlord tripled the rent on longtime Court Street business Trusting Dry Cleaners, effectively kicking owners Anne and Joseph Oh onto the street after 25 years in business. Then the recession hit, and the corner property sat there and sat there. Nice timing.
Finally, after more than a year of stasis, there's activity at the address. A plywood wall, painted Tiffany blue, surrounds the place. Additionally, all the windows have been covered with plywood and are evidently to be replaced. Looks like a complete overhaul. Whether this means that a business is on its way in, or Sal is just trying to make the place look a little more attractive to renters, I don't know.
