Many residents of Cobble Hill and thereabouts have every Halloween looked forward to the appearance of what Lost City deemed last year "
Halloween's Front Line," a long row of small pumpkins skewered on the spikes of the cast-iron fence surrounding the house at the southeast corner of Kane Street and Strong Place. Above is an image of the scene in 2008.
This year, however, the dozens of tiny Jack-O-Lantern sentinels are AWOL. (See below.) There is no sign of them, and with Halloween only a day away!
Perhaps the gory spectacle of last year's
Great Pumpkin Massacre (below) left a sour taste in the mouth of the house's residents.
