Great Old Photos for Sale

Alan Klotz, a friend, runs a photography gallery in Chelsea, and every year he throwing a Holiday Sale in which the prices of the treasures in his collection are slashed.

Even if you're not a collector, or have the jack to buy a print, this sale is a lot of fun, because Alan always has plenty of great shots of Old New York. And I've usually found there was almost always something wonderful that even I could afford.

This year, there are over 400 photographs for sale by such masters as Ansel Adams, Eugene Atget, Edward Curtis, Frantisek Dritikol, Robert Frank, Lewis Hine, E.O. Hoppe, Edwin Hale Lincoln, Eliot Porter, Eadweard Muybridge, George Rodger, Aaron Siskind, W. Eugene Smith, Josef Sudek and others, as well as a lot of anonymous vernacular photographs. (A photograph doesn't have to have an author to be great.)

The opening reception is on Friday, December 4, 6 - 8 PM. Otherwise, the sale runs until Dec. 20. You can find more info here.
