Wooden Phone Booth Sighting: New York Public Library Main Branch


The lower level of the Fifth Avenue branch of the New York Public Library. A bank of four. All working.

  1. So common at one time and nice to see
    a few around,Seems to need a paintjob
    as it looks like Chocolate(or worse)
    is smeared on the walls.
    I remember in 1953 using a booth (as few people we knew here had phones)
    and calling our family Doctor when
    anyone was ill, You closed the doors
    and a little fan came on, Imagine
    now talking with privacy & quiet.
