What You Could Eat at Lanza's 74 Years Ago

Here's a 1935 menu from Lanza's, the longstanding Italian restaurant in the East Village. Italian cuisine is a pretty steady thing, isn't it?

Ate here a lot with my family in the '90s--the dreaded "Sal Anthony's" era, but it was still damn good! Prices were far higher than this, though. The first time we went we were perusing the menu in the window and some guy walking by warned, "Nice paintings, small portions." He was wrong about the portions, but at least he did give me the ideal criteria to use when passing judgment on any eating establishment.
