Charlie -n- Diamond Opens on Atlantic

It's merchant advocacy week at Lost City. Earlier this week I posted something about Trini Gul, a friend's new and delicious Trinidadian Roti restaurant in Bed-Stuy. And she wasn't the only friend going into business. Atlantic Avenue has a new gift and clothing (and candy, sorta) store called Charlie -n- Diamond, which threw open its doors at 105 Atlantic today.

The co-owners are Anna Man, proprietor of the popular Atlantic Avenue hair salon Boy Luv Girl, and Elizabeth Lind, a local pastry chef and jewelry designer. The space was once Boy Luv Girl's; the salon has now moved a block east to 147 Atlantic Avenue.

Frequenters of Boy Lov Girl will recognize the handmade jewelry made by Lind and Man (second picture from the bottom). The shop also carries women's clothing, handbags, candles, soap, tableware, wallets, belts and—because no store is complete without them—Pocky, the Japanese candy, in regular and giant size. Many of the items are made by local Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens artisans.

As for the name, I know what it means. And I'll never tell.
