A squat little survivor on Hoyt Street just off Third. It says "carriage house" like nobody's business. Maybe a stables, actually. Nicely preserved, arched wooden doors on the second floor. Good for throwing a bale of hay through.

Amazing find. Are these carriage house leftovers very common? I'm always in awe of what remains and what gets plowed over in our fair city.

Sure, there are plenty of former carriage houses all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, usually located on narrow side streets.
I've long been fascinated by carriage houses and started photographing local examples a couple of years ago.
