St. Stephen's Scaffolding Coming Down
There's been almost zero blogosphere coverage on the nearly year-long upkeep job going on at Carroll Gardens' 133-year-old Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary–St. Stephen Church. Maybe there's zero interest.
Nevertheless, I hereby report that it looks like St. Stephen's may be celebrating Christmas scaffolding-free. There is considerably less construction bric-a-brac around the steeple and the base of the church. Missing shingles have been replaced. I haven't seen a Man At Work in weeks. One can not clearly see the spiffy, if somewhat oddly hued (public bathroom green?), paint job on the steeple window shutters.
And, most important, the tilty cross at the top has been straightened. That's what God likes to see.
