Just what the Village needs--more crappy mexican food.

eew eew eew--can I say more??
I loved The Figaro and hung out there with my best friend Ronnie back in the day-
we met Charles Aznevour there--us Berkeley Institute girls just spoke French fluently and had a blast--
we were mavericks! (in a good way)

From the other angle, you can still see the remnant of the "Cafe" in Cafe Figaro... Completely disturbing, and disheartening… That little area has been taking big hits -- Minetta Tavern, Cafe Figaro, and now the Provincetown Playhouse, all boxed up and ready for demolition. Bit by bit, they are trying to erase the heart of the Village... It's like an attack. I walked by Washington Square Park and saw this perfect little European park behind the big fences, complete with narrow “there’s nothing to do but keep walking” little pathways, and speared cast iron fence. What the hell? What does any of this have to do with the Village?? I'm at a loss.

Actually Minetta's is reopening in December and will look the same if not better. I know this from a reliable source. We've lost Figaro but hopefully something substantial opens up in the vacant space diagonally across the street. This would be the hallowed Beat ground of the San Remo.

I miss the Figaro of my youth, but fact is,the clients who had time to hang out and made it what it was are long gone, and probably can't afford to hang around in cafes very much anymore...On the good side Qdoba is pretty empty most of the time, and if they haven't signed a long lease.will hit the dust along with many of the other crap food spots pretty soon...to be replaced by what?

I agree....that Mexican place is always empty...for good reason, besides the fact that it sucks...they dont use real meat!

Be thankful it's not a bank but a food joint. Will I eat a franchised burrito? Hells no!
