Some Stuff That's Interesting

The Red Hook Ballfields vendors executive director Cesar Fuentes is opening a Red Hook Mercado, a Red Hook version of the popular Brooklyn Flea. Also, the Ballfields foodfest will open for the season on May 1. [NYC Food Guy]

Freddy's Bar did not succeed in ridding Brooklyn of Atlantic Yards, which is too bad. But the fabled dive will move rather than die, which is good. They will move to Fourth and Union after April 30. [Eater]

Glendale's Woodhaven Lanes, which closed in 2008 after 50 years in business, will become a furniture store. [Queens Crap]

Vanishing New York likes seeing signs with the words "steaks" and "chops" in them. We know how he feels. [JVNY]

Some nice old shots of the William J. Syms Operating Theatre of the Roosevelt Hospital. Have always liked that building. [Scouting NY]

A few architectural oddities. [Restless]
