I was in Times Square that day. Ended up in Bryant Park sipping wine and watching the parade as it went up 6th Avenue. I had never seen a parade on 6th Avenue even thought I'd been drinking way too much. But it was there, I sat on the bench on 40th Street and gazing as they strutted up the avenue. Watching a parade from Bryant Park when you're drunk, that says something...
I was in New York for Bicentennial - flew by Laker for £99 return. Spent three weeks walking everywhere, and took over 400 slides, many of which are now scanned and in the DesignClub Gallery at www.HotelDesign.net.
Memorable first trip Stateside, especailly dodging the cops to get to the beach to see the Tall Ships
The original, running Jeremiad on the vestiges of Old New York as they are steamrolled under or threatened by the currently ruthless real estate market and the City Fathers' disregard for Gotham's historical and cultural fabric. Est. January 2006. Contact Me
I have lived in New York City since 1988 and earn my bread as a writer. I began this blog in January 2006. Beyond that, don't be so nosy.
"I am not a pessimist; to perceive evil where it exists is, in my opinion, a form of optimism."
—Roberto Rossellini
One of the old book jackets lining the walls of Chumley's. Eternal Shame on Bloomberg, the City Fathers, and the powers that be that this cultural landmark has STILL not been saved and reopened.

what an incredible shot. Must be enlarged to be appreciated.
I hate to admit it, but I kind of miss the 1970's Times Square... :o
